Phuket is a great destination for a golf holiday, with six international standard golf courses set amidst idyllic surroundings. The island is attracting an increasing number of golfers due to its year-round mild climate, beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere. Green fees are generally higher than the rest of Thailand, but the pleasure of playing these courses is usually well worth the expense. Bear in mind too, that fees are still very low in comparison to other countries. There is no need to show handicap cards at any of Phuket’s golf courses. Dress code is not strict but most clubs expect visitors to wear golf shirts with collars, short or long trousers, socks and golf shoes. Generally spike-less shoes or soft spikes are required. These can be hired at the courses.

Phuket Country Club - There are two courses with 27 holes in total. The OLD COURSE provides a strenuous 18-hole, 6483 yards, par 72. The COUNTRY CLUB COURSE is a challenging 3575 yards (championship tee) par 37, 9-hole course, particularly suitable for the low handicap golfer.

Tap La Mu Royal Navy Golf Course - This unique golf course is located right at one of Khao Lak's most beautiful bays, about 1 hour drive North of Phuket Airport and only a short drive from the beach resorts away.

Thai Muang Beach Golf & Marina - The course has been build in a stunning setting at the coast of the Andaman Sea - right into a lagoon. The course is demanding and picturesque with natural water hazards, lots of hills and bunkers.

Golf instructors tell students to hit the ball in the sweet spot, and that's sensible advice. For golfers of every standard, Phuket is probably the sweetest spot of all for hitting a golf ball.
While other destinations in Thailand are also home to good courses, only in Phuket is it possible to enjoy first-rate golf, plus sun-drenched beaches and coral-reef diving, all close to fine cuisine and a varied nightlife.
